How I scored an amazing deal on Freedom of the Seas Royal Caribbean
In April 2024, I sailed on Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas with my son Tanner. I started receiving casino deals from Princess Cruises and Carnival at this point. I planned to play in the casino to see if I could get casino deals from Royal Caribbean. I love to cruise, and casino deals make this an affordable option for travel. Don’t worry if you are not into casino deals. I still have some money-saving tips for you!
Background
On my cruise in 2024, I ended up with Bronchitis after the first day. I kept going! I had an amazing time. It wasn’t until I got home I realized how sick I was. However, this affected my time I spent in the casino. I don’t love smoking casinos in general. I will deal with it because I like playing in the casino. However, this trip, the smell of the Liberty of the Seas casinos got to me, and I stopped going to the casino pretty quickly. I was bummed knowing I did not play enough to get any Casino Perks or future offers. However, it wasn’t meant to be … or so I thought. Until this week!
The Offer
I rarely check my junk emails, but I saw a Royal Caribbean Casino offer pop up the other day, and it caught my eye.
I immediately sent the dates to my sister. We have been wanting to cruise together again. We sailed with Virgin Voyages back in 2024 and had the best time. I get Princess offers from the casino. However, they are mostly week cruises. At this stage in her kids’ lives, it is impossible to take off with me for a week, but a long weekend? I thought I had to ask! I knew this was a real possibility when I saw her replying almost immediately after I sent the text. Woohoo! We found a few dates and I sent out to the casino department to get a quote. Again, I only played one night in the casino on my only Royal Caribbean Cruise. I don’t think I even lost $100.
Flights

to see if we could use points to fly to Miami or Ft Lauderdale. Both airports are close to each other. I pick the cheapest one or the one that has the best flights to meet my needs. Due to my sister’s schedule, I let her pick the flights. We both had enough Southwest points to fly to Ft Lauderdale round-trip for free. Well, taxes and fees of $5.60 each way!
Hotel
There are several places I like to stay in Ft Lauderdale pre-cruise. One of my favorites is the Hyatt Centric Los Olas Fort Lauderdale. Our family stayed there a few years ago and loved it. I put my parents there pre-cruise last year, and they thought it was fabulous. Thanks to Hyatt Points, we are staying at this hotel for free. If you are new to points and miles. Don’t skip over Hyatt! They have the best hotel award program. For 15,000 Hyatt Points, we were able to score a free room at this swanky hotel. If you are on a budget, I also recommend the Hyatt Place Dania Beach.
Quote
24 hours after I requested the quote, it came in, and we were thrilled. We were able to get an interior cabin on the Freedom of the Seas for less than $500 for the cabin for 2 people! This was less than the best deal I could find on my own (using all my cruise agent resources). We decided this was a go! We paid a $200 deposit, and the balance of $280 is due in September. We plan on bidding on an upgraded room. I have been lucky with those in the past.

Five nights with my sister, total out-of-pocket is a little over $500. This is amazing! Then you have to consider that this includes all our meals on a cruise. Unbelievable!
