Unleash Your Inner Foodie with Test Kitchen Virgin Voyages
Test Kitchen Virgin Voyages
My favorite place to visit is the Test Kitchen on Virgin Voyages. It is an innovative restaurant with a pre-fixe menu. I have visited 3x’s and my last experience was a repeat of my first one, but I enjoyed trying it again now that I better understand the restaurant. If you are an adventurous eater the Test Kitchen is definitely for you. Since it is included in your cruise fare, I think even if you aren’t the most adventurous eater, you should give it a try. If you don’t get enough to eat. You can grab a pizza or order room service after your meal.

Test Kitchen Virgin Voyages Menu
The menu lists 5 dishes with just a simple name like “egg”. Instead of asking how everything is prepared, you just go with it and try what is put in front of you.
Our first course was Mushroom. I don’t eat mushrooms, so I asked our waitress if I could substitute the vegetarian course instead. She said this would be no problem. My husband enjoyed the mushrooms while I enjoyed the yummy gazpacho. I could have eaten a quart of this delicious soup.
Gazpacho
The next plate was the Egg course. I usually don’t eat eggs. However, they present the smoked poached egg is beautiful. They serve it over peas, and you mix it all together and eat it with Guinness beer bread. I ate my peas and dipped my yummy bread in the smallest amount of egg ever. I was so brave!

The third appetizer was Scallop. This was not my favorite even though I love Scallops. It was served with Prosciutto and had chicken broth poured over it. It was still fun to try.

This was followed by our main course. We were able to choose between Beef or Venison. I chose the Venison. When it came out our waitress described the plate is supposed to look like a murder scene. This delighted me so much. It really does look a yummy murder scene.
Of course, no amazing meal is complete without dessert. The theme was Chocolate. It was a layered dessert with the bottom being coconut biscotti.
Venison
We enjoyed this meal. We paired it with an affordable red wine. We sat up at the counter and could watch them preparing the mushroom course. They also offer a wine or cocktail pairing menu that can be purchased as part of this experience. I tried the cocktail when I sailed with my sister. It was fun, but I realize I love red wine. However, we had a lot of fun trying different cocktails with the curated food. You can use your bar tab to purchase the wine or cocktail pairing.
